The Journey of Rajma: From Himalayan Soil to Your Plate

At iiza organic products, we bring you the authentic taste of the Himalayas. Our organic rajma (kidney beans) is cultivated in the clean, mineral-rich soil of Nainital, Uttarakhand, where the mountain climate gives it unmatched flavor, nutrition, and quality. But how does rajma truly form before becoming the comfort food we all love? Let’s walk through its entire journey.

Cultivation in the Himalayan Fields

Rajma belongs to the legume family and is sown directly into the fertile mountain soil during the early summer season. The farmers of Uttarakhand follow traditional farming practices, using natural manure and organic compost instead of chemical fertilizers.

The seeds are planted in rows, and with the right amount of sunlight, rain, and care, the rajma plant begins to sprout.

Growth and Nurturing

As the plant grows, it develops green leaves and small flowers. These flowers later turn into pods that hold the rajma seeds. In the fresh Himalayan air, the beans grow slowly, absorbing the natural minerals of the soil, which makes them more nutritious and tastier compared to plain lowland varieties.

Farmers use eco-friendly methods like mulching and natural pest control to protect the crops, ensuring every bean remains pure and chemical-free.

Harvesting the Pods

After about 3–4 months, when the pods mature and turn dry, it is time for harvesting. The plants are uprooted and left in the sun to dry naturally. Once dry, the pods are threshed to separate the rajma seeds.

The freshly harvested rajma shines with a natural glossy coat, carrying the aroma of Himalayan soil.

Cleaning and Sorting

The beans are carefully cleaned to remove dust, stones, or broken seeds. At iiza organic products, we use traditional hand-sorting methods to make sure only the best-quality rajma reaches you.

This step is crucial for keeping the rajma free from chemicals and preservatives, unlike mass-produced beans.

Packaging with Purity

Once sorted, the rajma is packed in eco-friendly and airtight packaging to keep its freshness, color, and nutrients intact. This ensures that when it reaches your home, you get rajma that cooks quickly, tastes delicious, and carries all the natural goodness of the Himalayas.
